“I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list.”

Cosplay

If you follow me on Facebook you will have seen that I’m increasingly investing time in cosplay photography. And I love it! There is something so satisfying about photographing someone who put their heart and soul into bringing a character to life by the means of cosplay. Last month, I did a shoot on location of Dreams Beyond Cosplay’s Ariel of The Little Mermaid – a collaboration with Darlene Dreeyers Photography. Today here on the blog I’m inviting you along on the behind the scenes journey of this photoshoot.

It’s the end of June already again – phew time is flying by! But that does mean that it’s time for another Cosplayer of the Month. I love exploring the world of cosplay, even though I don’t really cosplay myself. But I wanted to put some people in the spotlight who do an amazing job with it but hardly get the attention they deserve. So every month I will put one cosplayer in the spotlight. Together with the cosplayer I will select my/their favourite cosplay and use that as a base to interview them! Cosplayer of June: CosplayDreams1981.

Shoot!

Unfortunately at this point the book is only for sale in Dutch.

While exploring the world, I love to take photographs to capture certain memories – that beautiful beach, an amazing cosplay at a convention, or that irresistible plate of pasta. In order to keep improving I’m glad to browse for practical tips and utilise those in new photos I make. Recently, I received the Dutch book Shoot! by Anki Wijnen from my sister. It’s a practical photography book with many tips and challenges to further your skills.

Exploringtheworld

Running to catch your train to get to work. Piling through the enormous amount of homework. Appointment after appointment…When you rush through life it’s hard to really appreciate it. For many, travelling and exploring is a way to escape the craziness of life. But beauty can also be found in the smaller things in life. And that is one of many reasons I love the below quote from actress Helena Bonham-Carter so much!

“I think everything in life is art. What you do. How you dress. The way you love someone, and how you talk. Your smile and your personality. What you believe in, and all your dreams. The way you drink your tea. How you decorate your home. Or party. Your grocery list. The food you make. How your writing looks. And the way you feel. Life is art.”

Dreams It’s been a while since I’ve had this item on the blog but it’s back with a Cosplayer of the Month May. Cosplayer of May: Dreams Beyond Cosplay.

EFF2016

Last weekend I spend my Saturday at Elfia Haarzuilens to experience more of fantasy and cosplay. I’ve seen so many costumes, wow, amazing hand-made dresses, weapons, artifacts…and much more. I was at Elfia Haarzuilens with friends so it was a day full of laughter and fun. Photographing the costumes was of course also part of the deal!

Dutch Comic Con

Argh, it took longer than expected. Sorry for that! I’ve finally sorted through all my photos and am very happy with the end results. I’ve got a variety of cosplayers captured over the weekend, as well as two photoshoots I did with cosplayers during the weekend. If I’ve taken any photo of you you would like to have, leave me a message or send me an e-mail, and I’ll be glad to send them over! All photos are on my Flickr account. I’ve had so much fun taking these photos, praise to all of the cosplayers for their awesome work! Can’t wait to take more at my next convention.

Will I see any of you end of this month at Elf Fantasy Fair (The Netherlands)?

Dutch Comic Con

You might have noticed on my social media channels already that I’ve spent my weekend at Dutch Comic Con in the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. Dutch Comic Con is a convention for fans from TV-shows, movies, comics, books, anything fandom related. Several artists and actors were present at the con just as many different dealers. One of the goals of the weekend for me personally was to spend more time on cosplay photography. I took photos of a variety of cosplayers and did shoots with Dreams Beyond Cosplay and Lightened Skies Cosplay. I hope to sort through my photos this week so I can publish them online by the weekend!
