Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a great night and that 2016 has started off with a blast. Since it is the first week of 2016 I thought it was time to flashback to 2015 and have a little preview of what 2016 (hopefully) brings. This blog officially launched in October 2015 so of course that was a big highlight for me. I was so excited to get this baby going and together with my best friend (who did all the awesome designing and website building for me) I have been working on it for such a long time. And this year it finally launched!
I’ve had such an amazing time in Cologne this weekend. It was my first time going there and I absolutely loved it. If you were considering adding it to your travel bucket list: do it! Especially in the days surrounding Christmas. I guess everyone who has ever considered going to Cologne looked into visiting the Cologne Cathedral (or Kölner Dom). It is the symbol of Cologne. The Cologne Cathedral was actually one of the first things we’ve recognised this saturday when approaching the city. I was quite excited to see the cathedral (from the inside). It really is worth a visit. With buildings like the Cologne Cathedral, I guess the golden rule is: You have to see it for yourself. However, for those who can’t visit (yet), find below a photo impression from my city trip!
Do you know that feeling when you come across someone’s (travel) photos and you wish you coud capture a moment like that? I spend my time regularly scrolling through Instagram looking at everyone’s amazing photos. While I wish often that I could capture photos like that, they also inspire me to improve my own skills. The travel photos of actor Nathaniel Buzolic definitely fall in the above category.
I’ll be spending my weekend in Cologne! I’m super excited as I have never been there before. We’ll be strolling around the Christmas market and visiting the cathedral for sure, but if you have any other must-visits, please let me know. Of course I will blog about it here afterwards, but I will do my best to update Instagram and Facebook during the weekend. So make sure to follow for some sneak peeks during my city trip.
It’s the beginning of December so it is time for a blog about Christmas markets! Germany is very much known for it (later this month I’m finally visiting my first German Christmas market in Cologne!). But Brussels is definitely a city you should consider if you are planning a weekend get-a-way for Christmas. The Christmas market in Brussels runs from the 27th of November till the 3rd of January, so there is still plenty of time to go.
At the beginning of 2015, very cliché at the start of a new year, I decided to make a bucket list for travelling. There are so many destinations I still want to visit and hoped that putting them down would help me go new places. So far it has worked out a little actually. I’m sharing below 5 of the Europe destinations I have on the list – and a fun fact is that I already crossed off one of these during summer and will be able to cross off another one in December!
A travel wish of mine was to visit Scotland. Earlier this year that dream finally came through. We considered visiting Glasgow and Edinburgh for this trip. Eventually we did both and I’m glad we did so. My favourite out of the two in the end was Edinburgh for sure, but combining them in one trip seems like a good deal to me. I’ll talk you through the pros and cons of both cities.
Many people visit Paris each year. I bet you either visited Paris or are thinking of visiting. And these kind of city trips are a lot of fun (one of my favourite kind of holidays actually), but they can also be quite tiring. Therefore, more and more, people visit cities just one day. I did so as well, two years ago, when I was on holiday with friends in France. We decided to experience Paris in one day. Was it doable? Yes. Would I reccomend it? Not necessarily.
I lived for five months in the bustling city London. There is so much to see and do in this city that I’m convinced I can go there another ten times (or more!) and discover something new every time. Where should you definitely go when visiting London? There is always one thing that pops to mind immediately when I’m asked this question: Westminster Pier by night.
