Every part of the world, every country, they all have their own cuisines and dishes. Have any of you ever tried the Ethiopian cuisine? I hadn’t until 2 years ago when I lived in Brussels. We went out for a goodbye party of a colleague and she had picked the restaurant Toukoul. Most of us had never tried any Ethiopian food so it was a bit of a guess, but it turned out to be delicious! Toukoul is situated at rue du Marronnier, which is close to Place Saint-Catherine, in the centre of Brussels. Easy to reach when you are in the city centre, so really no reason not go.
The menu of Toukoul has many different dishes I had never heard of – luckily they have a list with explanations so you are a little aware of what you are ordering. We decided to go for a few of the large platters you can share (per two). I always love shared dining so this was a perfect option. You use these nice sort of “pancakes” as your eadible cutlery to taste the variety of dishes. You have to be able to stand some spices, because that is what the kitchen is quite known for. The spices are what makes the kitchen really interesting though in combination with different kinds of fish, meat or vegetables.
