“I haven’t been everywhere, but it’s on my list.”

The last day of February, also the last day of February fiction month! Phew, time is flying by. It’s almost hard to keep up with everything 😉 Of course the fiction travel posts won’t end after today, but I’ll mix it up more again with other travel posts (London will come up soon as I just got back yesterday!). But before it’s March I wanted to share one more blog with you. As some of you might know by now, I love reading but writing as well. I’m not pursuing a big career as a writer but that doesn’t stop me from writing fiction either way. I’m part of a great international group of young writers and I love hearing about why they love to write so much. I thought it would be great to share some of those stories here on the blog today! Are any of my blog visitors vivid writers too?

Laura L. Smith

We keep continuing with February Fiction month! I love seeing two passions coming together, especially when they happen to be my personal passions too. Author Laura L. Smith did exactly that with “The Status Updates Series” books. They feature four roommates who go through the good and bad together. All books feature a get-a-way to a European city, and that is where the travelling comes in. I wanted to dig a little deeper and asked Laura for an interview, which I’m glad she agreed on!

Ekko Cosplay

I love exploring the world of cosplay, even though I don’t really cosplay myself. But I wanted to put some people in the spotlight who do an amazing job with it but hardly get the attention they deserve. So every month I will put one cosplayer in the spotlight. Together with the cosplayer I will select my/their favourite cosplay and use that as a base to interview them! Cosplayer of February: Ekko Cosplay.

Custom Jewels

I thought, as part of February Fiction Month, it was time for a give-a-way on the blog. Together with Custom Jewels I can gift one of you with a fandom bracelet. Custom Jewels sells all kinds of fandom jewelry and other merchandise. If you are fan of Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, or any other TV-show, movie, or book, you will want to have a look at their website (Dutch webshop). So, let’s get back to what you can win this month here on the blog…

Fantasy maps

As mentioned earlier this week the first blog in “February Fiction Month” is about fantasy maps in books. We use maps to find our way in a new place (or Google Maps, whichever you prefer 😉 ). But they are used very frequently in books too, especially in the fantasy genre. Fantasy books are one of my favourites because you get to explore a whole new world. I have a hard time determining which I like best. High up the list are: Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling(of course), Stravaganza by Mary Hoffman, and The Black Magician Trilogy by Trudi Canavan. Both The Black Magician Triology and the Stravaganza books have maps at the beginning, the perfect start to a fantasy novel.

It’s February! And that means something special is coming this month. I’m dedicating February to works of fiction: books, tv-shows, movies, and everything that is associated with it. So what can you expect? Lots of fun blog posts on topics such as cosplay and time travelling in books, and a great give-a-way you don’t want to miss out on if you are fiction lover!
